Conference:association of Child Life Professionals (aclp) hosts an annual conference on professional issues which is the premier educational experience for Child Life Professionals. Each year, approximately 500-800 Child Life specialists from around the world gather for high-quality, timely and relevant educational sessions. The conference also features an exhibit hall offering products and services that are of interest to the Child Life community. Other professional development opportunities provided by aclp include our webinar series and the program review & development service.
Member services:the association of Child Life Professionals (aclp) is the only international professional association devoted to Child Life (cl) specialists. Members are Child Life Professionals, students, educators, and associates from related fields. Membership offers connection to the cl community, an online networking tool which includes key benefits such as networking opportunities, file libraries and the member directory. Other major services provided to members include Child Life education and training through publications such as the bulletin newsletter, the journal of Child Life, and cl news, a monthly e-newsletter. Members also receive discounted rates on professional development, publications, and certification fees.
Certification:the Child Life certification program fosters uniform standards of practice and ethical conduct among Child Life specialists, while enhancing the status and credibility of the profession. To achieve the certified Child Life specialist credential, each candidate must satisfy all educational and experiential requirements established by the Child Life certification commission, and must demonstrate an acceptable level of knowledge of Child Life theory and practice by successfully completing the Child Life professional certification examination. Certification is granted independently of a candidate's membership in Child Life Council. Certification maintenance includes annual fees and, after a five-year cycle, a recertification process is required.
