Program areas at Building Decarbonization Coalition
BDC believes that to create lasting, equitable, systemic change, policymakers, industry, and advocates need to be at the same table crafting policies that build the electrification market in parallel with phasing out gas. Industry needs regulatory certainty to shift production, sales and training practices; workers deserve a fair and responsible transition to high-road careers; and low-income and EJ communities should not experience displacement risks or additional energy burden. To achieve all of this at the speed and scale needed, diverse groups must work together to craft inclusive policies. BDC is a collection of energy providers, manufacturers, design and construction firms, local governments, regional coalition leaders, and national NGOs, all committed to eliminating pollution from the built environment. Through market and policy solutions, the BDC convenes diverse stakeholders and catalyzes fast, fair action to accelerate the development of zero-emission homes and buildings and eliminate one of the largest sources of climate pollution: burning fossil fuels in buildings.
