Our various education programs made a sizable impact across the state in 2022, including advocacy at the Capitol to protect life and help mothers.

Program areas at Louisiana Right To Life

>>> pro-life education programs inspired youth in 2022 <<<the 2022 calendar year was filled with numerous pulse youth events and presentations To educate and empower the youth of Louisiana To stand for Life and support moms. 105 students were expertly trained at three pulse days, two pulse weekends, and one weeklong pulse leadership institute. Our youth team made pro-life 113 presentations To 4,991 students at schools and churches around the state. During 2022, we impacted another 4,049 young people through outreaches online, at events, and other efforts. - other programs included the youth oratory contest and continued visits with Louisiana college students. In 2022, we continued our "they're human too" college exhibit which visited multiple colleges, including Louisiana christian university and tulane university. The exhibit furthered productive conversation and education on Louisiana colleges and universities about Life.
>>> Louisiana Right To Life advocated at the capitol and beyond To protect Life and help moms <<<protecting Life at the state capitol: a key part of lartl's mission is the protection of Life in baton rouge at the legislature. We worked with legislators To continue To light the way toward mothers choosing Life and for their babies To be protected by law & welcomed with love. Six laws were passed during the 2022 session:--reaffirmation of the human Life protection act: sb 342 by senator katrina jackson reaffirms Louisiana's pro-life law that protects every unborn baby from abortion when roe v. wade is overturned. -- illegal sale of chemical abortion act: sb 388 by senator sharon hewitt creates the crime of the illegal sale of chemical abortions, especially when ordered online without medical oversight. -- continuum of care for pregnant and parenting moms act: hb 909 by rep. rick edmonds provides further telecare resource-based support To pregnant and parenting moms.--adoption education expansion act: hb 274 by rep. rick edmonds expands the information required To be provided in adoption awareness instruction for public high school students.--choose Life license plate modification act: sb 211 by sen. jeremy stine adds a component To the choose Life license plate act that allows pregnancy centers To spend the funds on resources for mothers planning To parent their baby as well as those looking To place their baby for adoption.--allowing cell phones in abortion facility act: sb 104 by senator beth mizell fairly gives women access To their cell phones in abortion facilities.-- also during this session, lartl successfully advocated To have an additional $1 million in state funding directed To the alternatives To abortion program within the Louisiana department of children and family services. Combined with the current $1.26 million allocated, Louisiana is now dedicating $2.26 million To alternatives To abortion!- we continued To advocate for federal legislation To advance pro-life issues andstop pro-abortion legislation, as well as monitor the federal courts and court cases. The luminary newsletter published three issues in 2022 and featured in-depth coverage current pro-life issues; our email program constantly engage pro-life citizens with current information and how they can make a difference in support of Life and moms. Our social media initiatives reached citizens on a variety of pro-life issues across all our programs. On facebook and instagram alone, we reached 1,006,412 people. State fair outreach: lartl hosted a booth at the state fair in shreveport To educate citizens on pro-life issues. Thousands of citizens visited the booth and learned about the pro-life cause. Louisiana Right To Life's team was a regular participant in local, statewide, and national media throughout 2022 and especially surrouding all coverage associated with the "dobbs v. jackson women's health" supreme court decision, including a press conference held the day the court decision was released.
>>> Louisiana Right To Life efforts make impact across state <<<Louisiana Right To Life made a sizable impact across Louisiana in 2022 through our various general education programs! Here are a few highlights of the initiatives:in january and february of 2022, lartl hosted "Louisiana Life march" events in lake charles, baton rouge, shreveport, monroe, and alexandria To gather pro-life citizens "together for Life" for education, inspiration, prayer, and service. Thousands of citizens marched despite cold temperatures. In june, lartl held its "post-roe summit" To gather over 200 pro-life citizens and leaders To plan and prepare To protect babies and help mothers upon the overturn of roe v. wade. In september, the national featured film "lifemark" was released. "lifemark" was inspired by our adoption short documentary film "i lived on parker avenue" that we released in 2018. Lartl hosted a premiere of lifemark in august of 2022 in metairie for nearly 1,000 guests at the jefferson performing arts center. Lartl also promoted lifemark and i lived on parker avenue throughout 2022, seeing a dramatic increase in viewership of i lived on parker avenue on youtube. In 2022, lartl sponsored Educational billboards across Louisiana, including in lake charles, slidell, shreveport, and other locations. These billboards include a photo of an unborn baby To educate the world about the beauty of Life in the womb. One billboard reads "my heart is beating, mom. Choose my Life." All billboards include reference To a website or hotline that can connect pregnant women To local agencies that can provide assistance both before and after the birth of a child. During 2022, Louisiana black advocates for Life made a meaningful impact within the prolife movement, reaching an estimated total of over 10,000 individuals through speaking events, outreach, and community engagement throughout the state with a clear message promoting the sanctity of Life. During the fall of 2022, Louisiana black advocates for Life partnered with local college athletes To promote Life and help moms through a diaper distribution in downtown baton rouge that was covered by tv and print media. Louisiana black advocates for Life's director tara wicker was also featured in a new york times podcast that reached across the nation. Lartl hosted multiple events To raise support for the organization. These events also provide information and inspiration To those who attend. The events included the proudly pro-life gala in january in downtown new orleans attended by over 600 people, the chers bebes soiree for Life in october in lafayette attended by over 200 people, and the la vie jubille dinner in mandeville in november attended by 200 people. Lartl created, released, and promoted multiple videos in 2022 To educate citizens over the internet and social media. These videos were seen by tens of thousands of Louisiana citizens. Videos included:"kim's story" telling of kim schultz who placed her baby for adoption when she was a high school student. "la pro-life law is clear: mothers and babies are protected!" Featured a Louisiana obgyn sharing that Louisiana law on abortion protects unborn babies from elective abortion while still allowing doctors To care for mothers facing medical emergencies, miscarriages, and ectopic pregnancies. "roe is gone!" Shares that Louisiana is ready To protect babies and help moms since roe v. wade has been overturned.the lartl center for medical ethics provided education on very important, often forgotten, "end of Life" issues and other medical ethics information.preaux Life and other merchandising, bumper stickers, magnets, and t-shirts promoted pro-life awareness across the state and are sold online and at events To cover print cost.lartl sponsored "radio minute" ads To christian radio stations To provide education on fetal development, abortion, adoption, support for moms, and more.on december 3rd, lartl helped moms and babies in new orleans by hosting a diaper drive at our new orleans office. High school students joined us To help distribute diapers, formula, and other supplies To many families. Our drive assisted 150 families that day, and extra supplies were provided To pregnancy resource centers To assist more families.
>>> Louisiana Right To Life advertised To help moms in Louisiana <<<our advertise for Life initiative connects women in unexpected pregnancies, through strategic digital advertising, To our incredible network of nearly 40 pregnancy centers across the state, along with an abundance of public and private social services available To them. Since 2019, this initiative has saved at least 98 precious babies! In 2022, our advertise for Life ads were seen 213,535 times, were clicked on 11,032 times, and generated 1,433 phone calls To the pregnancy help hotline.in 2022, Louisiana Right To Life launched findhelpla.com, a sophisticated online resource that provides location-based listings of help available To pregnant and parenting families. This help includes housing assistance, childcare, financial and material support, legal aide, and more!
