Program areas at Oklahoma Beef Council

Oklahoma prorams are designed to strengthen Beef demand in Oklahoma. Obc released a series of videos featuring how Beef farmers and ranchers care for their cattle. The videos received 109,908 video views. The obc extended educational and inspiring videos achieving 5+ million video views in Oklahoma for a cost per view of a penny. Obc engaged an Oklahoma social media influencer in a promotional partnership amassing 7.5 million engagements with the videos. The obc sponsored a pediatric nutrition researcherwho spoke on the importance of meeting nutrition needs in early childhood and practical tips for doing so at the ok academy of family physicians. Obc had the opportunity to educate members of the Oklahoma state university football team about the benefits of Beef in a healthy diet through the build your base with Beef program.
Obc invests in the united states meat export federation, a contractor to the Beef checkoff. The Beef export market adds more than $450 per head to the price of fed cattle. So, keeping those markets flowing with us Beef is important. In 2022, obc invested in promotions that help drive nearly 5.8 million pounds of us Beef sales in japan and south korea. Obc, through usmef, also invested in education events in china and africa.
The obc invests in national programs designed to drive and enhance the demand for Beef. As an example, the obc helped fund three e-commerce promotions encouraging customers to purchase Beef. Each campaign focused on reaching consumers using the retailer's digital app and websites to purchase groceries and encouraged them to purchase Beef. The campaigns jointly drove $31 million in incremental Beef sales. The obc helped fund three integrated summer digital marketing initiatives in key populations centers driving more than 25 million engagements between video views on youtube and audio listens on spotify.
Procuer communications/compliance-producer communication programs inform Beef producers of how Beef checkoff dollars are invested and the results of those investments. Compliance programs ensure checkoff dollars are collected as per the requirements of a qualified state Beef Council.
As a qualified state Beef Council, the obc collects assessments of which funds are passed through to the state of origin and fifty cents is remitted to the cattlemen's Beef board for conducting national and international checkoff programs.
